Dress

Many folks dress in what might be called “business attire,” though you’ll find us in a variety of dress—some men wear coats and ties, while others sport a golf shirt and slacks. Many women wear dresses, while others are comfortable in slacks. The point is this—you are welcome no matter how you are dressed.

Service

Our worship services generally last an hour (11:00 am to noon).

Our worship services may be described as “traditional” in nature. That is, we experience worship through hymns, responsive readings and prayers, scripture readings from the Revised Common Lectionary, musical meditations by our various choirs and instrumentalists, testimonies of faith, and preaching from God’s word.

While our services are “traditional” in nature, we strive to create worship experiences that are warm and friendly, as well as creative and engaging to the worshiper.

Typical order of worship:

Prelude, Welcome, Christian Greetings, Call to Worship, Invocation and Lord's Prayer, Hymn of Praise, Children's Sermon, Interlude (K-1st graders are invited to Children's Church, and 2nd-6th graders are invited to The Bridge), Prayers of the People, Offertory Hymn, Offertory Prayer, Offering of Gifts, Doxology, Choral Anthem, Gospel Lesson, Sermon, Invitation to Christian Discipleship, Hymn of Commitment, Affirmation of Public Decisions, Benediction, and Choral Response.

Nursery and Children's Church

We have a great set group of volunteers who staff our nursery for ages infant-preschool and provide Children's Church for ages preschool through 1st grade. Children feel comfortable seeing the same faces week to week. The nursery is located in the hallway behind the sanctuary. Parents may bring their children to the nursery prior to the start of services. Staff will walk the children out to the sanctuary and sit with them until the Children's Sermon.  At that time, the older children are also dismissed to Children's Church which is also located in the back hallway next to the choir room.

The Bridge

For children ages 2nd grade to 5th grade, we have a program called the Bridge that meets during the worship service. Students gather in the sanctuary and sit in the front pews for the first part of the worship service, and then, after the Children’s Sermon, they are escorted to the Fellowship Hall where they learn about worship and scripture in a way that is geared towards their age group. This program acts as a “bridge” between childhood and adult worship in the church.
